How do keyword rules work? How can I create it?

Keyword rules work as in case of letting you know when your brand’s name and some critical words are mentioned together. Some sectorial or brand-related words are quite critical for your works and the time when these are mentioned in the same context is a matter of Alert. You need to make lists including such important words for being aware of such situations as soon as possible.

For example, a GSM operator can determine that the use of their brand and the word “no phone” is a critical topic and make a special rule for this. Also, the company can share all these contents with an exclusive group.

Words in keyword rules can be different in accordance with sector and brand. Your brand representatives in Monitera will guide you on this issue.

For creating a keyword rule;

  • Go to the Notification Rules page on Listen and login.
  • Start a new rule through the Add Rule button after the login.
  • You need to write the name of your alert rule under the title of “Rule Description”. This will be on the subject line of the instructional mail you will send when you want to follow or edit this rule. For example, you can label it as “Acme Keyword Rule” for the brand named Acme.
  • Then you need to select the mailing list, which will receive the notifications of this rule. This notification list might be a mailing list, Slack channel, or your services. You need to create a notification list for selecting your choices.
  • In the last step, you need to select “keyword” under the title of Rules and move forward with “in” option; separate the critical words with commas and enter the corresponding box as there are no commas after the last word.
  • If you do not want to see some specific words in the alerts, you can arrange the same setting with the “without” option.
  • You can set an alert rule by clicking on the Create button in the last step.

For example, Acme brand may want to get alerts when their names and the “crisis” are mentioned in the same context; but they do not want that these contents contain retweets. In cases like this, you might create rules as stated by the following part.
